Monday 18th August 2008 - Service Disruption from 09.30 on

Due to major roadworks in Brookvale Road, service U1A (towards the Airport) will be diverted via Lodge Road and Portswood Road for approximately 5 weeks.

Buses will NOT call at these UIA stops:

• Stag Gates, at the crossroads of Lodge Road and Banister Road in The Avenue
• Northlands Road, near The Cowherds pub in The Avenue
• Winn Road, at all three U1A stops
• Brookvale Road, opposite Blockbuster Video

Buses will instead pick up and set down passengers at these bus stops along the diverted route:
Outside the Travelodge in Lodge Road
Outside the fitness studio in Lodge Road
At the U6H stop in Portswood Road opposite Spring Crescent

*U1C services are NOT affected and PLEASE NOTE they will recommence their normal route from Monday 18th August.

U6H buses will NOT CALL at the bus stop outside Waitrose.
Passengers are advised to use these alternative U6H bus stops in Portswood Road:

• Opposite Spring Crescent
• Outside Boots The Chemist

Monday 25 August 2008 - Bank Holiday

Routes U1A & U1C: Sunday service

Route U1E: Sorry, no service

Routes U2B & U2C: Sunday Vacation Time service

Routes U6C & U6H: Sunday service

Route U9: Sorry, no service

Closure of Highfield Interchange - from 04/08 to 01/09

The Interchange will be closed from Monday the 4th of August until Monday the 1st of September 2008 for essential infrastructure works involving carriageway resurfacing, footway widening and repaving. Non-related cabling works on the Highfield Campus will also necessitate temporary one-way working on sections of University Road for up to a week in mid-August.

Alternative arrangements have been put in place to ensure that Uni-link services continue to operate.

In terms of Uni-link, the following changes will take effect during the closure period:

• U1A / U9 stopping outside the Jubilee Sports Centre and Burgess Road Library
• U1C / U9 stopping opposite the Stile Public House and outside the Student Services Building
• The U6 will continue to use Burgess Road with the U6H stopping at The Gate Public House and the U6C stopping at the Burgess Road Library
• The U2B will use Burgess Road and Glen Eyre Road (only en-route to Bencraft) with the U2C stopping at The Gate Public House

There will also be changes to National Express services which will use Burgess Road with drop-off / pick-up points at Burgess Road Library (towards the City Centre) and outside the Crown and Sceptre Public House (heading out of city). All service changes and any updates will be widely advertised on Noticeboard, the Uni-link site and by means of site notices prominently displayed across the Highfield Campus.

Please allow extra time to get to and from the alternative bus stops, keep an eye on site notices and if necessary, seek further advice from the Uni-link office in Building 57..

Eastleigh Service Disruption

from 30 June 2008 until further notice(Roadworks scheculed to end November 2008)

Due to major roadworks in Southampton Road, Eastleigh, services U1E and U1C will be diverted:

U1E: Mon-Fri 07:20 and 16:45 from Dock Gate 4 will be diverted off Southampton Road to run via Chestnut Avenue, Passfield Avenue, Leigh Road and Romsey Road, to terminate at Eastleigh Bus Station. Arrival times will depend on traffic congestion levels, which may vary from one day to another.

U1C:  Mon-Fri 08:15 from Eastleigh Bus Station will run

NON-STOP DIRECT TO HIGHFIELD INTERCHANGE via Romsey Road, Leigh Road, Passfield Avenue, Stoneham Lane, A335 Stoneham Way and Burgess Road.

Passengers requiring onward destinations beyond the Interchange must alight there, and change onto our other services.

All other U1A, and U1C services will continue to operate as normal.

POSTWOOD ROAD

GAS MAIN WORK IN PORTSWOOD

Starting on Tuesday 27 May 2008, until further notice, major gas main work will take place in Portswood Road. No traffic will be able to travel southbound along a section of the road.

Uni-link service alterations will be as follows:

Route U1C. Buses will serve a temporary bus stop opposite Pizza Hut in Old St. Denys Road, then run via Highfield Lane, Abbotts Way, Russell Place, and then run via the normal route. Another temporary bus stop will be sited in Brookvale Road, after the Westwood Road junction.

PLEASE NOTE - U1C buses will not be able to call at the usual stops outside Woolworths, or outside Blockbuster Video.

Route U6C. Buses will serve a temporary bus stop opposite Pizza Hut in Old St. Denys Road, then run via Highfield Lane, Abbotts Way, Russell Place, Brookvale Road, and then via the normal route.

PLEASE NOTE - U6C buses will not be able to call at the usual stop outside Woolworths.

Route U9. Buses heading east towards Bitterne Triangle and Townhill Park will not call at the usual stop outside Pizza Hut in Old St. Denys Road, but will call at a temporary stop opposite the westbound U9 stop, at the rear of The Mitre pub.

Buses on routes U1A (towards the University, and Airport), U6H (towards the University and General Hospital), and U9 (towards the University and General Hospital) will continue to run as normal.

During the period of the gas main works, our buses may be subject to some delay owing to traffic congestion in the area, and we ask our passengers to please be patient if buses are delayed. Our drivers will do their best to run to time. Please accept our apologies for any disruption to your journey during this period.
